The RDA course path, in one place

RDA Certification Courses in Roseville

Roseville Dental Academy offers BLS/CPR plus the four Dental Board of California approved courses on the Registered Dental Assistant path — Infection Control, Radiation Safety, Coronal Polish, and Pit & Fissure Sealants. Here is the order to take them, what each requires first, what each costs, and the next open dates.

Recommended order and prerequisites

Each course's prerequisites come earlier in this list, so taking them in order keeps you eligible for the next one. Dental Practice Act certification is also a prerequisite for Infection Control, Radiation Safety, and Coronal Polish; it is not one of the five courses on this page.

Dates are penciled in and may change; admissions will confirm current availability.

RDA course questions

What order should I take the RDA courses in?

Start with BLS/CPR, then 8-hour Infection Control, then Radiation Safety, then Coronal Polish, and finish with Pit & Fissure Sealants. Each course's prerequisites come earlier in that order. Dental Practice Act certification is also required before Infection Control, Radiation Safety, and Coronal Polish.

Do I need BLS and Infection Control before Coronal Polish?

Yes. Coronal Polish requires BLS certification through AHA or ARC, 8-hour Infection Control certification, and Dental Practice Act certification before you attend.

How much do all five courses cost?

Each course is priced individually. Taken separately, all five total $2,225. Call admissions at 916-888-9821 with questions about registering for several courses.

Do course completion certificates expire for RDA, OA, or DSA applications?

For those applying for RDA licensure, Orthodontic Assistant (OA) permits, and Dental Sedation Assistant (DSA) permits, there are new expiration dates assigned to course completion certificates. They are as follows: • The Dental Practice Act and Infection Control course certificates must indicate the course was completed within 2 years of the application date. • Coronal Polishing, pit and fissure sealants, and ultrasonic scaling certificates must indicate the course was completed within 5 years of the application date. • Radiation Safety certificates must indicate the course was completed within 10 years of the application date. Please Note: The expiration dates listed above do not apply to unlicensed dental assistants, only those that are pursuing a license or permit.
